Review: |
| I don't know who's responsible for
putting this movie together, but Sin City might want to take a closer look at their hiring
practices. This is a bad video, very bad. That happens, they're not all going to be
winners and that's OK, but don't lie to me. That's what the box cover is, one big lie.
Kylie Ireland is never blindfolded in the movie, blindfolds are never used in the film
(just Steven St. Croix wearing a gas mask). The teaser on the box is describing some
movie, but not the one inside. I expect this kind of deception from Vivid or Liesure Time
(the all-time worse) and I'm sorry to see Sin City falling into the trap. I haven't picked
up one of their videos since. I don't understand why a business would go out of it's way
to piss off their customers. What ever happened to truth in packaging. So much for the box, now for the film. Set in the future (?), Steven and Kylie work as print and video censors for the goverment of "Big Father". The goverment is based on sexual repression and is waging war, depicted in black and white WWII footage, against the "Malcontents" who believe in sexual freedom. You never get to meet any actual malcontents. Steven and Kylie secretly have sexual fantasies and eventually have a sexual encounter with each other. Big Father knows something is up and Steven is reprogrammed, using the gas mask, and forced to reveal his secret sexual fantasies. He eventually tells of the affair with Kylie and she is removed from all the records. Not a bad storyline, but the video stunk. The dialogue, music, editing, and directing were OK...if it was made by some junior high kids. The production, storyline and costumes barely made it to high school. The money spent on this film could have been better used if they had hired a real director, done the sex scenes and put them in a compilation film. Speaking of the sex, it looked forced, and the scenes were so short, because of the time spent on the story, that they were over edited and cut up. The camera work was amateurish, too many close-ups that lasted too long and never really gave you any idea of what was going on. Enright blew it on this one, he had a top rate cast and still couldn't deliver. Whatever sexual potential the scenes had was completely missed by the camera and editing. Kylie Ireland, Selena, and Kirsty Waay are very hot actresses, but I couldn't get excited about any of their scenes. Kylie Ireland in a blindfold, maybe a little light bondage, being taken advantage of...that would have been a great scene. Well, you'll have to look at the box and use your imagination. PT says 1, and don't lie to me again. © 1999 Smuttco, Inc. |
