Review:

This is the final episode of a 4 part series that focuses on an obscenity trial. The first two parts deal with the courtroom proceedings and the last two center on the jury deliberations. The first five minutes of the film catch you up on what went on during Vivid on Trial 3-Taking It to the Jury . Personally, I liked the last two movies better.

The Verdict shows how six individuals fail to agree on what is obscene by community standards. The jury reviews four scenes from the film in question; an interracial scene, a cross dressing scene, a pedophilia fantasy scene, and a bondage fantasy scene. While some jurors find some portions of the video obscene, they never reach a unanimous decision on any of the scenes.

The sex scenes are audio dubbed because they're all juror fantasies. The music is a definte plus for each of the scenes and with four distinctly different scenarios, the action doesn't get boring or repetitive.

This is a very good treatment of an issue that affects everyone in this country, the goverment's attempt to legislate morality. When are they going to learn that it can't be done. Unfortunately, the ultra-religious and far right groups keep the pressure on officials while hiding behind God, Mom and apple pie. My opinion is that these people aren't any different from neo-nazi and hate groups, their only reason to exist is to play on the fears and prejudices of their followers. My thinking is that the only real obscenity in this country is that anyone can call themselves a minister and get out of paying taxes. OK, I'm climbing off my soapbox.

The interplay between the characters is very good and it's interesting to watch the alliances form and dissolve depending on the type of scene they're talking about. This is a well thought out film with a message. One thing you'll find here that I don't remember seeing anywhere else, Peter North in a black bustier and stockings, heels and a blonde wig. The sex is tastefully done, but still highly erotic (Racquel in chains...works for me). The directing and dialogue are top rate. The editing and production were good.

PT says 4 almost a 5, if they had just put in one more scene or had a money shot in Racquel and Randy's scene. Worth picking up to see.
