Review:

Scenes 7&8 - other=Director's Cut

Here's the last installment of Simon Wolf's trilogy. Jennifer(Asia Carrera) is back to writing and seems to be doing well, except for her visions of the wolf and James(George Kaplan)the wizard. She talks to her agent Charlie(Joel Lawrence) about them, but he thinks she's just been working too hard and reminds her of an appointment with a publisher(Nicole Sheridan). Jennifer's visit to the publisher ends up with Nicole playing hide the salami with two houseboys(Voodoo and Michael Stefano). In the meantime Charlie is putting a new author(Kylie Ireland) through her paces on the literary casting couch. Jennifer meets the evil Sebastian(Steven St. Croix) who poses as a friend of the wizard and takes her to his domain where she is shown the pleasures of the flesh. James convinces Charlie to come with him to Sebastian's realm and rescue Jennifer from his clutches. James and Charlie arrive to save Jennifer and Sebastian kills Charlie. Through her grief and desperation, Jennifer is able to harness her inner strength and summon the wolf to destroy Sebastian and then she brings Charlie back to life. Charlie and Jennifer live happily ever after.

Bud Lee may finally be learning how to film a sex scene, the six presented in this movie are really very good and deliver much more heat than you would expect from a feature film. There are even scenes where condoms aren't used. The only real trouble was in the lighting. The scenes were all too bright with some very funky shadows.

The story is thin. You never find out what kind of danger Jennifer is in (other than getting a good hard fucking), what James's mission is, what Sebastian wants or why Charlie shows up in a stupid looking caveman outfit. Kaplan hasn't learned anything about writing a screenplay, except how to get into the film with the most nonsensical lines. He continues to put out drivel, but at least now he can put out high priced drivel with some of the best special effects and highest production values in the business, courtesy of Adam & Eve and Simon Wolf.

The acting is superb. Asia Carrera, Steven St. Croix, Kylie Ireland and Joel Lawrence all turn in great acting performances as well as their terrific sex scenes. The addition of Nikita Denise, Kristi Myst, Nicole Sheridan and Randy Spears to any feature is a big plus. The music is very good and adds a lot to the film.

This is a two disk set, with all the extras on the second disk. The extras include director's cuts of the last two scenes, bonus scenes from Emerald Rain, X-Girls and Beauty and the Bitch, a compilation of sex scenes from assorted Adam & Eve films, Adam & Eve trailers, a trailer for this DVD, a recap of the Tails trilogy, a Bud Lee interview, an Asia Carrera and Bud Lee interview, bloopers and behind-the-scenes footage and bios of Asia Carrera, Kristi Myst, Nikita Denise, Ava Vincent, Catalina, Nicole Sheridan and Bud Lee. I liked the extras. The bios were very good, with the actual stars telling you about themselves, just listening to Nikita Denise makes it the best extra I've ever seen. The Adam & Eve comp was just a flash through tease. I don't know why they would include a trailer of a DVD you already have. The blooper and behind-the-scenes footage is always fun to watch.

After reading my review of A Wolf's Tail, a member of the Simon Wolf Organization told me that I didn't acknowledge their use of the wolf and the special effects. Ok, they used the wolf again and the special effects are the best I've ever seen in a porn flick. Their production is second to none, but wolves and special effects don't get me excited and I thought that was the purpose of an X-rated movie. They also don't make up for weak story development and actually draw attention to the shortcomings. I mean, if you're going to spend that much money on a production, why not spend some of it on a good, erotic story. If I want to see special effects and wizards, I'll go see something that makes sense like Lord of the Rings.

This DVD set gets 5 for production, 2 for the story, 4 for the sex and 5 for the extras, soo...

PT says 4, you can always fast-forward through Kaplan's Sean Connery impersonation and trite dialogue.
