| Scene 1 - other=double penetration with toys Scene 2 - other=bondage and squirting Scene 5 - other=double penetration including a flashlight If you've read my reviews, you know that I like Mason...a lot. Her movies are always loaded with steamy sex and, if you are still able to think with all your blood rushing south, they're very insightful. She's got a subtle way of getting her message across without mucking up the sex. That being said, when I first watched this movie I was stunned. It didn't look like what I was used to seeing from Mason. There was no angst, no storyline, no heroine and no message that I could find. Then I viewed the DVD extras, watched the movie again and I think I got it. It's about power and ownership of one's own sexuality. In this case Mason's and the girls'. Now I know that there are a lot of you out there that couldn't give a rat's ass about porn-with-meaning. Don't worry. This flick has more than enough over-heated sex to let you stroke away to your hearts content without having to strain your brain. In many ways, this is Mason's best work to date. Her casting was on the money and provided some truly powerful scenes. The camera work, production, lighting and editing show a polish that usually isn't a priority in Mason's past projects. Even though the music is only used in the scene intros, it helps set the tone. The sexy outfits are almost used as battle garb as the women enter the sexual arena. The dialogue is open and spontaneous, allowing the performers to express their true emotions. Now to the best part, the DVD extras. There are the usual, chapter starts, trailers, web site info and a slide show for each girl with a total of seventy pics. What sets the extras apart are the 36 minutes of BTS footage that allow each of the girls to tell about their individual experiences during the filming. This is far from the normal scripted Q&A sessions that you're used to seeing, it's more of a documentary on the making of the movie from concept to final editing. There's also a seventeen minute, audio only, interview with Mason that covers her thoughts and purpose for each scene. Most of the time, I breeze through the DVD extras. I'm glad I didn't this time. I can't stress enough how much more you'll get from this film if you watch the BTS footage and listen to the interview. Good looking girls turned loose to fulfill their sexual desires, raw heat and unadulterated passion. What more could you possibly want? Mason sets the scene, turns them loose and then stands back and captures all the action. Sometimes directing is getting out of the way and just documenting the results. This film reinforces her status as one of the premier porn directors, ever. PT says 5, 4 if you got the VHS, the extras are that important. |
