Review:

Scene 4 - other=bondage
Forbidden Tales, the much hyped and anticipated feature release from Digital Playground stars Tera Patrick as the storyteller. She's in a room with an old man on life support and tells him erotic stories to pass the time. The man is computer generated, as is Tera's mechanical right forearm. You get to see the arm twice, once while she's admiring it and again when she does some special effects cigarette smoking. The rest of the time she conspicuously and awkwardly keeps the arm behind her. There're also some digital special effects at the beginning of a few scenes. All the action takes place around a castle with the actors wearing medieval costumes.

The story line is interesting, but I don't know if the special effects were necessary. The computer graphics are ground breaking for adult cinema, but they are so far behind what is being offered by mainstream that they're laughable. Saturday morning kiddie TV has more realistic special effects. Still, I guess it's a start.

The sex is boring, and made more so by the incessant chanting that accompanies it. With the exception of one scene, it's all audio dubbed...poorly. For example, the first scene has the queen urging her lover on by saying, "pound my pussy!" and using other porn cliches. The costumes are pretty good and stay true to the period. Tera's dialogue, of course she and the old man are the only ones that have any, is painful to listen to. It's so slow and plodding.

This is a couples movie that will have little or no appeal to the raincoat crowd. It'll do very well in motel rentals and with the cable version. It'll win AVN awards, be hailed as a breakthrough in adult movie making and add to the Tera Patrick mystique. All this will happen and I'm going to sit here and wonder. In the two movies she's put out this year, Tera has had more dialogue than most porn starlets have in an entire career. Her acting abilities are minimal and her performances are even less. She does appear in four scenes here, but they barely get above room temperature. The fourth scene would have been much more exciting if she'd been left in the stocks while the guard took her. Tera has a beautiful face and you get to see a lot of it in this flick, but I had a hard time not falling asleep during her monologues.

PT says 3, after you watch it once it'll probably sit and collect dust.
