| If I could've followed the
storyline, I'd tell you what it is. All I know is that there is an African
fertility statue, British colonial soldiers, a curio shop and an unhappy
wife(Bolivia Samsonite) of a very rich man(Mark Davis). While the little
statue seems to make everyone else's sexual libidos come to life, for some
reason it does away with the cruel and overbearing husband. Even the constant
narration doesn't help the viewer to make sense of what's going on.
This is a very stylized and artsy porn flick. Audio dubbing, slow motion, intricate sets and mood lighting help the visual appeal and cover up the weak storyline to a point. I was amazed how so much could be spent and put into this movie and how so little was done with plot development. The camera work was good, except for a few cases of too close-up, and the editing was adequate. The music was good, but at times it interfered with the sex scenes. The cast is beautiful and they are all established performers but there is almost no sexual heat displayed in the first four scenes because of the excessive slow motion and posing. If the action hadn't been drawn out by the overuse of slow motion, there might have been more time to develop a real story. This is a very slow movie with too much time spent on the narration. I guess Steele realized how much the movie was dragging by the time he got to the last two scenes because he suddenly stopped the slow motion and audio dubbing and produced two very hot scenes. Aleksandra Nice is not only gorgeous, she is a very uninhibited sexual performer who's not afraid to turn it all loose for the camera and her partner. Her scene with Lexington Steele would be enough of a reason to take a look at any video. Mark Davis and Lita Chase turn in the final scene and it scorches as Davis seriously pounds away at Lita. Ok, this is a "couples' film"(it's supposed to be gentler sex than what the average stroker would be looking for) but the last two scenes show that a film that appeals to both can be made. I enjoyed the sets, the costumes and most of the special effects but the movie just dragged for the first fifty-five minutes. Up to that point I was ready to give this one a low rating, then came the final forty minutes and I thought I was watching a different film. You decide which part you want to watch, I'm only rewinding to the start of Aleksandra's scene. PT says 4, did you happen to notice that I'm an Aleksandra Nice fan? |
